August No Rush

Usually by now, I'm ready for Fall. I'm ready for football and sweaters and leaves crunching underfoot. I'm ready for firepits and smores and winery trips that don't require sun hats. Fall is my favorite season.

But not this year....

This year, I don't want summer to end. I'm like a child dreading the start of a new school year.

I want more watermelon, new sundresses and a few more Saturdays at the pool.  For just a little longer, I want the smell of charcoal to linger in the air. I want to churn just one more batch of homemade ice cream.

August usually drags in Washingston. Lawmakers leave town. So do tourists. The city slows down. Tans fade.  Then, leaves turn.

I have a busy month planned - a trip home, a trip to the beach, a few celebrations for friends. This year seems to be passing so quickly, but I'm loving these long, slow summer days.  I hope August doesn't rush by...

I think I'm probably the only person trying to stonewall summer. You don't feel that way, do you? You're ready to tailgate, ready to plant mums. I'll get there eventually. Just not yet...

Not sure how I'm feeling about summer right now.
I love Fall though.
Right now I'm looking forward to Labor Day trip to Lake Erie to hang with our friends.

I should have planned my August with more things, but our July was crazy...so now I find myself in the post-vacay depression and trying to entertain my 2 year old for a month before preschool starts! Sounds like your August will be great though...look forward to reading :-)

I don't know...I'm kind of with you. Fall for me means a much busier time at work and it always goes by so fast...I think I could endure a few more 94degree days if summer would last longer.

Ughhhh, while I like the summer plans and vacations, I do not like the summer feel. Maybe it's the south Florida vibe and the wish that I could wear jeans, boots and sweaters for longer than 5 weeks a year. While everyone else is looking fall/winter, I'm still in my Lilly and sandals (which is hard for me being a southern Kentucky girl where one doesn't wear open toe shoes after Labor Day). Bring on the cool weather! :-)

Oh, I am ready to plant some mums! And for a bite in the air. Maybe if this summer wasn't the hottest of my life, I would feel different. I do however want to go to the beach. Didn't do enough of that this summer!

So hot lately. I am ready for school and jeans. Back to a routine. That's the mom talking.
