In Rif Fort on our last night
And we might have pigged out a little, while on our Pig Trip.
Some people will tell you, If you've seen one Carribean island, you've seen them all. Not that I've seen that many, but...from experience vacationing around St. Somewheres, I tend to disagree, especially after a week in Curacao. As in all sunny places, you'll find fruity drinks...
and have to share your space with the cruisers...
but the vibe in Curacao is far more international than say, Cancun or the BVI, and certainly (obvs!) the U.S. Virgins (haa- get it...America = not international to Americans; there was much debate on our trip as to what/where constitutes "overseas" so writing this, still nursing a frozen mojito hang-over...that made me laugh. Since you weren't there with us, you probably didn't even grin. But I digress...).
The ole Pig has distinctive beauty, no doubt, and interesting landscape, too...
...making it far more than just "paradise". I really loved that about the place. Not that a paradise vibe escapes visitors, it does not...
There are plenty of sites worthy of a Corona commerical. It's just Curacao doesn't feel like Just Another Carribean Island.
Maybe because I was there with Cas. She + I hadn't traveled together in four years, and never together with boys, who we almost lost to sea...
Read his memoir if you love politics, Hollywood gossip and 80's movies. I loved it! I also loved Boat Day!
We went on a catamaran with all of Cas + Mike's friends from Atlanta...
who, down island for a wedding, were nice enough to let us on board and have a few Beyonce/Jay-Z moments hanging out on the nets while while we sailed the sea, waiting on these nice, young Dutch
But we're back home now, and it is I who does the cooking. And while the Fall foliage is all warm in hue, it's chilly here. It snowed this weekend, and as we shivered and trudged through a Target parking lot back in the 'burbs, nary a ray of sun or a fruity drink in sight, it made Curacao seem all the more a cold, distant....
memory.

Looks like a wonderful trip.
I've not experienced much of the islands. I think I need, too.
Unbelievable! Every part of this rip looks amazing.
So Much Fun. It was the first cold day in Nebraska today...so I definitely was drooling (figuratively of course) over those amazing pictures! I loved the pig noses (definitely something I would have done)!!! I'm glad you had a great "Fall Break" thanks so much for sharing it. oxo
Vacations are for pigging out! haha
Have you been to St. John? I've heard it's very nice! Wouldn't have wanted to spend my Pig trip with anyone else. So glad we made this happen. Can't wait for animal 2012!!!
Looks fabulous!!!
