What Drives a Party {mary's birthday}

The Paperless Post invite

This weekend, my friend Carrie + I hosted a little soiree in honor of our friend Mary. Because I heart Mary and wanted everything to be special....

and also because I'm not an eat-out-of-the-plastic-container kind of girl when it comes to celebrations....

Jocelyn humors me and uses the wine glass holding plate

 I loaded up some party plates, and headed out to wine country.

This is a picture of my trunk.

On Saturday, it proved to be a place where messiness bred resourcefulness.

Turns out, I failed to bring enough serving pieces for all the food.

This type of negligence happens often when I plan parties + events because, to put it mildly, I'm unorganized.

Fun....

but usually a tad frenzied.

It's a good thing on any given day in my trunk I can find clear bowls, glass vases of varying sizes, colorful napkins, even ribbon.  If you drive around with all that, you too can, by default, stage a pretty table like this....

The plate with the wine holder totally cracks me up because that is SO something that I would do, and I know my friends would not be willing to participate! Everything looks fantastic! :)
