The Preppy Mafia, that is... Thanks to Shannon at The Webbisodes who brought me into the fold! I'm flattered to join this group of sassy bloggers!!! As part of the initiation, I have to answer these questions:
1. Who is your style icon(s)?
I do love really classic lines, so if I could choose any designer to dress me, it'd be Carolina Herrera. Until her frocks start hanging on the racks at Loemans, ROSS or Marshalls, dressing in CH designs will be just a dream.
I know this is an odd one, but...I also think that no one dresses better for her body type than Oprah.
For years, I wanted my wedding dress to look just like this in white
O knows how to work the angles, the Spanx and the illusions, and everything curvy about me celebrates that!
2. What is your favorite Socialite lit book?
Is Bridget Jones a socialite? Hee! She is to me!
3. Favorite party theme?
Oh, how I love a theme!!! It's hard for me to pick just one. I am most proud of the Q.Pidd Valentines party my friend Annie Laurie and I created. However, I think the most fun party I ever threw - and I apologize in advance if anyone is offended by this - was a wine tasting fundraiser for my church called (again, sorry - I'm Methodist!) Corks for Christ.
If you look closely you can see in the picture above on the sideboard that my co-hosts and I took brown paper and covered bottles of wine from all price ranges and regions, numbered them, then asked guests to rate their favorites.
At the end of the night, the names of the wines were revealed on the fridge...and people learned how sophisticated their palette was or wasn't.
Just for fun there was some Boones Farm wrapped in brown paper. In the spirit of Corks for Christ I will say, Thank God no one picked it as favorite!
It was fun because the guest list was so diverse, the cause was worthy and the activitiy of tasting and rating really lent some amusement to the affair, making it not just another cocktail party.
Chris, Julie, and Tres - Texans who like to taste wine!
4. Go to Halloween costume?
Call Anne, ask to borrow her infamous Deviled Egg outfit!
5. Extravagance you cannot live without?
Salon highlights. During my tenure of funemployment I tried to color my hair on my own, from a box. It was not pretty. So much so that on our 1 year dating anniversary - when we'd agreed to not exchange gifts - Mr. W announced at dinner that he'd broken the rules and got me a present. I was CERTAIN he was about to pull out an engagement ring. I was wrong. It was the next best thing, though: Visa gift cards with a note that read Go get your hair done! Love that guy...
6. Greatest fear?
I'm neurotic, so I fear anything bad I read about on the internet or see on Dateline. I always fear losing loved ones, but currently, I worry that when Mr. W and I start trying for a baby, it won't happen easily.
7. Trait you deplore in yourself?
8. Which talent would you most like to have?
I would LOVE to be able to sing.
9. Greatest Achievement?
Professionally, I've checked everything I've ever wanted to do off my list, which is to say... I no longer have any career goals or ambition. But I also never have to wonder What If!
